ORAL EXAM: AT A RESTAURANT

ROLE PLAY: AT A RESTAURANT

For your next oral exam you are going to act out a role play in groups of 2/3. This is the situation:
- One of you will be the waiter/waitress and another one will be the customer. The customer will order a full meal with starters, a main course, a side dish, and a dessert.
- You have to create a menu on a card with at least 5 meals for each of these sections:
    1. Appetizers /Starters
    2. Main Courses
    3. Side dishes
    4. Desserts
    5. Drinks

- The menu should include on the front page: the name of the restaurant, the town where it is located, its address and phone number and a photo/drawing. Each meal should include the name of the dish; the main ingredients (only for main courses); and the price.
- With your/s partner/s; create a dialogue between waiter/waitress and customer/s.
1. Order a full meal
2. Pose a problem: food is cold, a hair in your food, glass isn´t clean,etc..
3.  Ask for the bill
4. Be polite at all times!

Hand it in to your teacher by Wednesday 13th March so she can correct mistakes before returning it back to you.
- You have to act out your dialogue in font of the class on Wednesday 20th March.  You will use the menu you created as a prop for your role play.

PROJECT: A WEATHER REPORT

 MY OWN WEATHER REPORT.

For this term, each of you will create your own weather report and then present it to class on February 13th.
Follow the guidelines below:
- Create a power point presentation with 5 slides organized in the following way:
SLIDE 1: Cover: title (My Weather Report"), name of student and group.
SLIDES 2-5: name of city and country where it is located; 2 weather symbols, temperature, suitable clothes and activities that you can practise

- During your presentation you should describe the weather for each of the 4 cities, as well as the clothes you can wear and the activities you can do depending on the weather.
- Change the weather according to the city.
- Use weather vocabulary; use as many different and varied words as possible:

PROJECT: A DAY IN MY LIFE

A DAY IN MY LIFE

For your first project, you will create a video where you will describe your partner´s routines for a normal weekday and for a day of the weekend. These are the guidelines:
- Create a video in pairs. Each one of you will record his/her partner´s routines.
- One of you will record what his partner normally does over a weekday. The other will record what his/her partner does over a day of the weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
- While your partner is mimicking his/her routines, you will orally describe what he/she normally does. e.g. "He/She  usually gets up at 7,30". Use the PRESENT SIMPLE
- Use times ("at 8.00") and time expressions ( "in the morning, in the evening...")
- You have to include subtitles and music to your video with a video editor.
- Your video willinclude at least 10 routines per student.

PROJECT: THIS IS WHERE WE LIVE!

For this speaking project, you have to prepare a Power Point or Prezi presentation about your town. You can do this individually or in pairs. Then, you will present it to the rest of the class.


You have to include the following slides:
SLIDE 1: Cover (project title and names of group members; one image of town)
SLIDE 2: The best places to visit (title and list of 5 best places to visit). 2 images
SLIDE 3: Fun activities: sports, entertainment, outdoor activities,... List of 3 places and 2 images
SLIDE 4: Food and shopping. List of 5 places where you can eat out and shop around. 2 images
SLIDE 5: Transport: types of transport you can use to move around your town. 2 images
SLIDE 6: Weather: what´s the weather like in summer and in winter? Average temperatures. 2 images
SLIDE 7: My favourite place in my town; how can I get there from the high school. 1 image
SLIDE 8 (and 9): My house and my street. (1 image)


In your oral presentation (30th May), you will need to talk about:
SLIDE 1: Introduce yourself/yourselves and present the Project
SLIDE 2: Explain where the best places to visit are and what you can do in them.
SLIDE 3: Explain where you can do these activities and how often you go to these places.
SLIDE 4: Explain where these places are and which is your favourite restaurant. Give reasons for your choice.
SLIDE 5: Explain how often you take different means of transport and where they take you.
SLIDE 6: Explai weather and clothes you normally wear for each season.
SLIDE 7: Describe the place, what you can do there, give directiosn so as to how to get there; say how often you go there and who with. Give reasons for your choice.
SLIDE 8: Talk about your Street (name, shops, parks, location,...)

PROJECT: COOKING TIME!

PROJECT: Cooking time!!


The project for this term is "Cooking a Recipe".
These are the instructions:
- Groups of 2 or 3 people
- You have to write a script before you record the video and the teacher has to correct it. The script should include:
1.Name of the dish.
2. Ingredients
3. Cooking steps and the dialogues that will appear on the video.
Deadline: Script: 19th of February 2018
- You have to record yourselves cooking
- You MUST edit the video: Include writing (the ingredients) and music

THESE ARE YOUR INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Fill a bag with 3 things that you can use to tell the class about yourself.
2. All your objects have to fit in the bag
3. Bring back your bag to class and be ready to share with the class. You will explain to the class:
- what the object is and why is it  important for you
- where you keep the object
- how did you get the object / who gave it to you
- any other information related to the object that you consider important for us to get to know you better.
